I'm confident this week's song will have some "universe-al appeal" :) It's a song co-written on a road trip in Northern Alberta with the talented Dana Blayone. It was inspired by the experience of the vast, open plains we were passing through on my way to the writing appointment at Dana's house. I said at the time that the feeling made we want to write a "big love song". It's also the most sick I've ever been, trying to croak out a song in a writing session and I'll be forever grateful for Dana's tenacity in keeping me going into the wee hours as we wrote this song from the ground up. For me, I love the idea at the end of the chorus that our world together keeps on expanding in tandem with the way the universe expands. It makes me think of how we are all connected and reminds me of a mind-blowing interview I heard with cosmologist Richard Tarnas on CBC Radio's Tapestry - worth checking out here when you have a moment.
BACK TO WHERE IT ALL BEGAN
This Saturday we'll be back in Clarke Hall to officially launch the CD. It's gonna be a crackin' night with my talented pals Justin Abedin and Sean O'Connor. Hope to see some of you there. Tickets available here.
Thanks as always for reading & listening, David

LYRIC
You And I And The Universe
The world was spinning I was in but it felt like the earth was flat
So I sent out my heart on a satellite and it brought you back
We were light years apart,
Now you're in my arms and when I hold you
You bring the moon in closer
Make the sun burn hotter
And I swear I saw the stars dance a tango in the sky
You make my heart feel lighter, defying gravity
I don't understand it, how the world keeps on expanding beyond the earth
With you & I And the Universe
My thoughts exploded, didn't know that you would change the atmosphere
Now I'm breathing deeper, seeing clearer ever since you landed here
When I look into your eyes,
Our energies collide, I can't stop smiling
You bring the moon in closer
Make the sun burn hotter
And I swear I saw the stars dance a tango in the sky
You make my heart feel lighter, defying gravity
I don't understand it, how the world keeps on expanding beyond the earth
With you & I And the Universe
Somethings you can't explain science just gets in the way.
All I know Inside this time and space.
You bring the moon in closer
Make the sun burn hotter
And I swear I saw the stars dance a tango in the sky
You make my heart feel lighter, defying gravity
I don't understand it, how the world keeps on expanding beyond the earth
With you & I And the Universe
