GIGS OUT OF THE ORDINARY

Happy autumn everyone. I hope you’re enjoying the seasonal colour changes wherever you are. I wanted to give you a wee update on a few interesting gigs in the GTA and let you know what’s up with the new record.

PERFORMING SONGS WRITTEN WITH THE SIX STRING NATION GUITAR
This coming Thursday October 26th, I have a pretty unusual gig!  I’ll be at the Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts performing on the Six String Nation Guitar as a guest of Jowi Taylor. Jowi is the brainchild and driving force behind the creation of an extraordinary musical instrument - a guitar containing 64 pieces of powerful Canadiana.  The guitar’s name is Voyageur and I was fortunate enough to get to spend some time with her.  It’s the first time I’ve had the experience of co-writing with a musical instrument but it kind of felt like that, writing four songs inspired by different historic pieces in the guitar.  Jowi presents a fascinating multimedia presentation about the creation and history literally residing in this amazing instrument and I look forward to performing my songs live on the guitar as part of that presentation.  You can find tickets here.

BAND OF THE ROYAL REGIMENT OF CANADA
Some of you may remember I was invited last year to perform “Can’t Make It Back Home” with the Band Of The Royal Regiment Of Canada.  It was a very powerful experience for me to perform my song about a soldier returning with PTSD for the military community and to hear it rendered by this wonderful band.  Well, they invited me back as a guest again this year for their concert at Glenn Gould Studio Theatre in the CBC in Toronto next Sunday October 29th.  This year, as part of their “Musical Portrait of Canada at 150”, I’ll be performing my tribute to Terry Fox, “Run Fox Run”, with a special band arrangement by Bill Mighton as well as the song “A Land So Far.”  Here’s the ticket link.

WHAT'S HAPPENING WITH YOUR NEW RECORD, YOU ASK?
A good question! The front cover original artwork by Paul W. Thompson is done and it looks amazing. I’ve been slowly putting together a team to help this album reach as many ears, hearts and minds as possible.  All I can say at this point is, it’s getting closer and I’ll be letting more out of the bag very soon. I promise you, it'll be worth the wait.  In the meantime, thanks for your continuing interest in my music.
