SWEET HOME & CHICAGO

I hope your summer is off to a superb start.  The last couple of weeks have kept me guessing what time zone I’m in.  I flew home to bonnie Scotland where I played at a touching memorial for Grahame Thomson, my musical compadre from our band back in the late 80’s, “Panic No More”.  While I was there, I was also invited to perform a song I wrote for the local rugby club, Jedforest, as part of their 30 year re-union of winning the Border League.  I spent some great time with my folks and some friends I hadn’t seen for a while.  It was good to take the Highway Home :)

A couple of days after getting back to Canada, I was back on the road, this time to Chicago to perform at the Chicago Scottish Festival.  With temperatures reaching over 100 F, I have to say, there were moments on stage in my kilt where it felt like a new form of “Scottish Hot Yoga”.  Despite the heat, it was a fun festival to play and an honour to be asked to sing the Canadian and Scottish National Anthems at the opening ceremonies.
