From the recording Voyageur In Song (EP)

Spruce tops are common on acoustic guitars but Voyageur’s top is from the extraordinarily uncommon Golden Spruce of Haida Gwaii. In fact, it’s made from the only wood ever sanctioned to be taken from Kiidk’yaas, the legendary 300 year old sitka spruce tree that was a natural wonder, sacred to the Haida people and the victim of a fatal cut by a misguided logging protester in 1997.

Lyrics

Just like an iceberg
Deep in water
You keep your feet wet
You know the trauma

You hold the memories
From sea and soil
You’ve seen the centuries
Bloom and spoil

In all the lines written on your face
No sign of a fall from grace
Fighting darkness against the grain
Still letting light come in

Cascading shadows
You and the mountains
Rain & sunshine
Nature’s fountain

Like elders singing
For generations
A brand new skin
In a six string nation

With all the lines written on your face
There’s no sign of a fall from grace
Fighting darkness against the grain
Still letting light come in

With all the lines written on your face
There’s no sign of a fall from grace
Fighting darkness against the grain
Still letting light come in, still letting light come in
Still letting light, still letting light, still letting light come in
